HIVAIDSconference.com - The Church and the Worldwide HIV/AIDS Epidemic - February 19, 2005

Imagine an event like the recent Tsunami happening every three weeks.
HIV/AIDS, which is preventable, takes over 150,000 lives every three weeks.

The keynote address of Ken Casey, Special Representative to the President of World Vision International for the HIV/AIDS HOPE Initiative is now available in streaming audio and video on the web cast page. Additionally, several of the breakout sessions are also posted there in streaming audio. Please check regularly as more will be added soon.

The Church has always responded to suffering.
How will the Church respond today?

That is the question this conference addressed on February 19. We looked at several inspiring and practical ways that the Church can and is already responding to address HIV/AIDS around the world.

In total there were 446 people participating. Your feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

This conference was possible only due to the efforts of a large group of truly talented people:

35 presenters not only from around the country but from around the world. To find out about them, check the Speakers page on this website.

20 exhibitors representing 18 organizations. To learn more about these groups, check on their websites listed on the Exhibitors page.

75 dedicated volunteers (a third of them were students) worked long and hard to see that the conference was a good experience for all who attended.

A much deserved thank you to all of these people.

We will also be updating the web site with new resources on the HIV/AIDS Pandemic. Be sure to visit the website regularly.

“Is not this the kind of
fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter -
when you see the naked, to clothe
him, and not to turn away from
your own flesh and blood?”
--Isaiah 58:6,7 (NIV)
